Curriculum

GPS Utilizes a Curriculum Designed to Meet the Individual Needs of Each Student.

Using a research-based structured teaching model students are able to work independently using visual instructions and positive behavior support to achieve their full potential.

Each classroom utilizes Web-based software on interactive touch panel technology. Unique Learning System® and the corresponding N2Y curriculum are designed to accommodate a wide variety of learning styles. This interactive, standards-based curriculum is specifically designed for students with a range of special needs. The N2Y curriculum provides students with current events typically seen in a newspaper or daily news broadcast.

Classroom Structure and Communication

Using a variety of resources, our students excel working together and sharing meaningful instruction. Some students benefit using repetition and grade leveling to enhance their mode of communication. By using communication grouping, students are provided the strategies needed to comprehend the text through direct instruction and interaction with their peers.

In collaboration with our Assistive Technology (AT) Specialist, who evaluates and designs communication tools utilizing technologies ranging from interactive display boards, to individual communication devices, AT increases reading fluency, comprehension skills and social interaction.
